Sustainability is a term that’s increasingly used and often overused with little back up as we begin to be more aware of the environment we live in. The phrase 'buy less, buy better' comes to mind when we think of sustainability within the fashion industry.

The industry is responsible for 4-10% of global greenhouse gases, so we are all keen to do our part. This can be something as little as buying less, researching where your items are coming from, or buying from more eco conscious brands.

At Collen & Clare HQ we are doing our part to be more sustainable in everything we do. Whether it is the brands we are buying or the packing we are using, every little bit makes a big difference. We use eco-friendly mailing bags which are re-usable for your returns.

Below is our top picks of sustainable brands who are making a positive change.

Caudalie

With vegan formulas, no synthetic cleansing agents and up to 100% natural origin ingredients, Caudalie offers skin-friendly ranges with an eco-conscious ethos. Since 2012, Caudalie has been a member of the "1% for the Planet" network and thus contributes 1% of its worldwide turnover to organisations working to protect the environment. Their packaging is also fully recyclable and is designed using recycled plastic and glass which is more respectful to the planet. They are on a mission to plant over 8 million trees by the end of 2022.

'Give back to the Earth a little of what it gives us each day.We believe in responsible beauty that respects the planet and the people who inhabit it.' - Mathilde, founder

Stripe & Stare

Sustainability that doesn't get your knickers in a twist!

Did you know that only 2% of underwear is sustainably sourced? Stripe & Stare were shocked by this statistic which is why they are so passionate about making a difference. All their products are made from TENCEL™ Modal, an amazing eco-friendly fabric that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles. Made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms, TENCEL™ are the most sustainable fibres around. A naturally sustainable and soft fibre that starts with the tree and ends with the softest fabric you’ve ever felt.

Every 5 minutes 10,000 fashion items end up in landfill. Their knickers are 95% biodegradable so when you are finished you can put them in the compost!

Delilah

What does vegan mean?

It means Delilah value animals, and they believe in our planet. It means their formulas, brushes and even their outer packaging doesn’t contain ANY animal-derived ingredients. It doesn’t need to.

In 2019, Delilah decided they wanted to do better – for the world around us. Because of that, they began reformulating all of their products and are proud to say that by January 2021, delilah became 100% vegan. Without ever sacrificing the quality and performance, they have been able to create long-wear, pigment-rich formulations, that are 100% Vegan, 100% Cruelty Free and 100% #EasytoLove.

That means you look as good as you feel.

Fund

One of our favourite quirky knitwear brands, Fund offer funky slogans on cosy knits that make you feel good whilst doing good. They are on a mission to help bring a change to poverty that 19 of the poorest countries are facing. With every one jumper purchased, they donate 100 school meals with the belief that by bringing education to these countries, we are able to live a more sustainable future. They work closely with small independent farmers sourcing the highest quality wool from free range pasture fed sheep. Wool is a low impact, biodegradable fibre. It is warm, breathable and naturally anti-bacterial so it lasts longer and requires less washing.
